You may have patients who are
confused about what health insurance type of health insurance to get. One way
to assist them is to present to them the options available through the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace.
Also called ObamaCare, the ACA
was enacted in March 2010, and its vision was to make health insurance more
cost-effective, easier-to-find, and more in-tune with the needs of the
public. Improvements in regulations and
rules have reduced the occurrence of claim denials and discrimination during
the application process. Also, there are now more benefits available to
children, young adults, and seniors.
Current Status of ACA Marketplace
As of November 2016, the official
site of the Affordable Care Act Marketplace announced that there is an open
enrollment for patients who want to avail of insurance for 2017. According to
the site, even if Donald Trump has been elected as president, the provisions of
this law are still in effect. There have been no announcements so far about any
changes in the implementation of the ACA, but the public is advised to remain
updated.
